Western Canada Tournament Returns After Three Year Hiatus

After a long three years Kelowna Secondary will once again host The Western Canada Tournament, a showcase of elite Canadian basketball talent.

The tournament tips off Thursday, February 2nd at Kelowna Secondary featuring six of the top 4A basketball programs in British Columbia.

Semiahmoo, Oak Bay, Kelowna Secondary, Sir Winston Churchill and Vancouver College will represent the B.C. boys in the tournament. They will match up with St. Paul’s and John Taylor from Winnipeg and Ross Shepherd from Edmonton.

Seaquam, Kelowna and GW Graham will represent the B.C. Girls with Ross Shepherd as the lone visitor.

Two powerhouses will open the Sr Boys tournament with an inter province matchup between Sir Winston Churchill and Oak Bay Secondary 1:45PM.

Oak Bay sits third in the rankings for senior boys 4A, and the bulldogs are red hot going 10-1 across all competitions in January.

Semiahmoo will welcome Winnipeg’s John Taylor to B.C. as they match up at 3:30 PM.

The Thunderbirds were remarkable this season and will be tough opponents for the Winnipeg team.

Vancouver College will challenge St. Paul’s at 5:15 PM, and to close day 1, the home side Kelowna Secondary will take on Ross Shepherd.

The Western Canada Tournament is shaping up to be a classic and a great platform for young Canadian athletes. Additionally, all games will be available to stream live.
