Front Court Events is excited to announce that it will be hosting the much-awaited 2023 edition of the Big Ticket Tournament, one of British Columbia’s most thrilling high school basketball tournaments. The competition brings together exceptional young players from across the province, providing them with a platform to display their skills and compete against top-level teams. With the tournament just around the corner, basketball enthusiasts across the province are eagerly anticipating the spectacular showcase of talent that it promises to be.
The previous year’s tournament was a dazzling display of basketball talent, as the Brookswood junior girls and Abbotsford Panthers senior girls were crowned champions in their respective divisions. These two teams went on to win the provincial tournament that season and cement their status as one of the province’s best teams.
In addition, current D1 talents such as Kiera Pemberton and Marina Radocaj wowed the crowd and displayed their remarkable talent. The former is currently a North Dakota Fighting Hawk (NCAA D1), while the latter is an Arizona Sun Devil (NCAA D1). On the boy’s side of the tournament, Dilveer Randhawa had a great showing with multiple 40+ point games on the way to winning the championship for the Abbotsford Senior Panthers. The quality of talent on display at the Big Ticket is truly remarkable, and the tournament provides the opportunity to win a thousand-dollar scholarship to support these athlete’s post-secondary journey.
This year’s tournament promises to be just as thrilling, with strong teams such as our 3A #1 ranked Lord Byng squad set to compete on the boy’s side. The Lord Byng Grey Ghosts, consisting of all grade 11s in 2022-2023, made an impressive provincial run last season. This year, the entire group is ready to run it back and finish the job– they’ll be a must-watch team this season! Meanwhile, the senior girls’ programs are led by 2023 4A champions Riverside, as well as top contenders for the 4A title in Argyle and Seaquam. The tournament will take place from November 27th to December 2nd, with games held in the Lower Mainland.
One of the tournament’s most notable aspects is the $40,000 in scholarships awarded to senior players. This prize money serves as an incentive for young athletes to give their all on the court, and it also helps support their academic pursuits.
Overall, the Big Ticket is an excellent opportunity for young basketball players to showcase their skills, gain valuable experience, and potentially earn scholarships to support their academic goals. With such a strong lineup of teams set to compete this year, basketball fans across the province are sure to be in for a treat.
