The Battle of Burnaby took place last night where the Rebels completed a clean sweep against the Byrne Creek Bulldogs.
The night featured dazzling performances from senior, junior and bantam squads.

Burnaby South put their best foot forward last night with their senior teams and junior girls stealing the show.
Senior Boys
Both senior boy’s squads got off to a rocking start with the Rebels holding onto a narrow 3 point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Burnaby South were able to build off that slim margin, closing out the half firmly in the driver’s seat leading 46-36.
The Byrne Creek bulldogs found themselves unable to close the gap falling to the rival Rebels 89-76.
Rebels Armaan Hehar scored 24 points and dominated the glass with 11 rebounds, Malik Hussein also turned in a spectacular performance with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
Senior Girls
The Rebels senior girls took control of their matchup early with a 15-3 first quarter lead, the girls poured in a 24-point 2nd quarter En route to a 58-30 victory.
Erika Sunga and Elysa Piskacek each scored 12 points for the Rebels, Chloe Chung also pitched in with 9 of her own.
Junior Girls
The junior girls backed by their home crowd took control of the game early. Their great all around performance lead the home side to a 54-19 win.
There couldn’t have been a better night for the Rebels as all teams perfected their game plan, making a clean sweep at this season’s Battle of Burnaby.
The playoffs are the next stop for the Rebels senior and junior girls as both squads qualified for the BNWSAA (Burnaby New Westminster Schools Athletics Association) playoffs!
Additionally, the Rebels senior boys suit up tomorrow for their final game before provincials against the Moscrop Panthers.
It was a great night for high school basketball, as the provincial tournament countdown continues.
