LVLPrep’s Unique Approach to Basketball Training and Personal Growth in British Columbia

LVL Preps places utmost importance on Confidence, Intelligence, and Discipline in their training programs for young athletes seeking to enhance their skills. They go beyond the basketball court, striving to instil qualities that hold immense value in all aspects of life. Through basketball, LVLPrep is creating a positive impact in British Columbia by utilizing it as a tool for personal growth.

Jadon Cohee and Denver Sparks-Guest, two of British Columbia’s most talented basketball players, founded LVLPrep. Cohee, an NCAA division one athlete, teamed up with Denver Sparks-Guest, one of the best PacWest scorers of all time, to help build better athletes in British Columbia.

Together they have 20 years of playing and coaching experience across high school, college and professional levels. This cumulative wisdom and experience allow the two to personally tailor programs and training regiments to anyone who walks through the LVLPrep doors.

“Everyone has a different level they are trying to reach, and our focus is taking the time to be super careful and tailored with our athletes to make sure we’re helping them get to their specific goal,” Sparks-Quest emphasized.

As trainers working side by side, Cohee and Sparks-Quest have a unique ability to embrace their athlete’s individuality and work as a supplement to their success alongside their AAU and school careers.

In British Columbia, there is a wealth of basketball knowledge to help players improve their skills and develop effective strategies. Nevertheless, LVLPrep is exceptional because they prioritize mental wellness and encourage confidence, intelligence, and discipline. They excel in teaching the basics of the game while also focusing on overall well-being.

“Many young athletes are struggling mentally, and my biggest focus was to help athletes with their mental health. The biggest way to do so was through discipline. We implement a disciplined structure into their lifestyle so everything becomes easier. Once you get used to liking doing the difficult things,  the basketball improves, and that’s when the mental part of the game and life starts to improve,” Cohee told us.

“Discipline is at the forefront, but that trickles down into becoming more intelligent and confident not just in basketball but life,” Sparks-Quest added.

What contributes to LVLPrep’s ability to train and develop young athletes is the trainer’s unrelenting drive to learn and grow in their own right. LVLPrep, in its short existence, has branched out near and far to improve as trainers to develop the product for British Columbia’s young athletes.

In April, Cohee visited Atlanta and gained invaluable experience that has already helped develop the pillars of LVLPrep.

“The coolest thing for me was seeing the work ethic of those kids and bringing that back here. For instance, the standards of a gym down south are a lot different, and I want to bring those standards here and grow the game. The whole reason for travelling is to come home and further develop the athletes here,” Cohee explained.

Each place has its distinctiveness, from the rules to how people play. This individuality was evident during LVLPreps’ visit to the Lower Similkameen Indian Band Community, where they conducted a youth camp.

LVLPrep hosted a week of basketball in the community and professed their gratitude to the community.

“Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it – we’re beyond honoured to have had this opportunity. The laughter, sweat, growth and sheer joy we witnessed was unforgettable,” LVLPrep professed.

In conclusion, LVLPrep is much more than just a basketball training program. Co-founders Jadon Cohee and Denver Sparks-Guest have created a space where young athletes can improve their skills on the court and develop important qualities like confidence, intelligence, and discipline that will benefit them in all aspects of life. With their individualized approach and commitment to learning and growing as trainers, LVLPrep is making a positive impact on British Columbia’s basketball community and beyond.
