KAMLOOPS, BC – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s basketball team closed out the first half of their Canada West season on a high note, never trailing in a commanding 90-69 win over the visiting UNBC Timberwolves on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Tournament Capital Centre.
Jayden Stephens and Jaeden Bynoe paced the WolfPack offense, with Stephens pouring in 19 points on efficient 7-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Cason Scott added 11 points, while Damilola Farinloye contributed 10 in a balanced attack. TRU shot an impressive 56.2% from the field and 9-of-16 (56.2%) from three-point range, showcasing their hot hand throughout the contest.
The WolfPack jumped out early, led by Stephens’ opening flurry and Bynoe’s strong finish to the first quarter, building a 24-15 advantage. A highlight-reel one-handed dunk by Stephens energized the home crowd in the second frame, helping TRU maintain control heading into halftime.
For UNBC, Justin Sunga led with 13 points, and Chris Ainsley chipped in 12 points along with six rebounds. The Timberwolves struggled from deep, hitting just 7-of-25 (28%) threes, and couldn’t match TRU’s shooting efficiency.
Thompson Rivers’ depth shone through, with contributions up and down the roster, as head coach Chad Jacobson praised the team’s savvy play and ability to get quality minutes from multiple players. The victory improved the WolfPack to 8-4, tying a program record for wins before the holiday break, while UNBC fell further in the standings.
