DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis Aggies women’s basketball team delivered a commanding 74-42 victory over Chico State on December 14, 2025, improving to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in Big West play. The Wildcats fell to 6-3.
Despite trailing 18-16 after the first quarter, UC Davis exploded in the second and third periods, outscoring Chico State 44-11 across those frames to seize control. A 21-5 second-quarter surge and a stifling 23-6 third quarter showcased the Aggies’ defensive intensity and sharp shooting, particularly from beyond the arc where they hit 13 three-pointers.
Sophomore guard Avery Sussex, a standout graduate of Riverside Secondary in Coquitlam, British Columbia, led the charge with her first career double-double: 10 points, a game-high 12 rebounds (all defensive), and a team-best 6 assists. The versatile Canadian playmaker anchored the defense with relentless board work while dishing key passes that fueled fast breaks and open threes. Sussex’s all-around performance highlighted her growth in her second season with the Aggies.
Tegan Young added 13 points, including three treys, while Ryann Bennett drained four threes for 12 points. Megan Norris contributed 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Nya Epps scored 9. UC Davis dominated the glass 55-43 and shot 43.1% overall, holding Chico State to a dismal 22.5% from the field.
For the Wildcats, Meadow Aragon led with 13 points, and Kaylie Edge chipped in 10 off the bench.
The Aggies’ balanced attack and rebounding edge proved decisive in this non-conference rout, setting a strong tone heading into conference play.
